Amazing Wings!

This beautiful butterfly was on the brick wall beside the garage this morning.  Its wings were heavy with raindrops.  It tried to fly, but to no avail.  So, I gently carried it to the pansy bed, thinking that the last fluttering should be under the purple "umbrella."  This afternoon I walked over to the pansies, expecting to find a lifeless shape. It wasn't there!   I would like to think that it was taking a brief respite from the Spring rain earlier and, then, it went on its way.  Fly high and  thanks for the Kodak memory!

Marilyn I think that has to be the most beautiful butterfly I've ever seen. We had a similar experience with a dragonfly,it landed on my hanging basket and I thought it might have died as it was motionless for quite some time but when I came back a little while later it was gone. And not on the ground.I think you're right, I think even the beauties of nature need some respite before they can continue on their way. Thanks for the beautiful picture.

Lovely, but not a butterfly, it's a Luna Moth.

That's a lunar moth. They are so beautiful and have a lovely name to go with them. Your picture is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing :)

Oh, wow. I've never seen a luna moth before. It looks like something that came out of Rivendell or somewhere! :p

It's just too pretty for words.
