Toby (Border Collie) and his best gal, Susie! |
From time to time, I have posted about my wonderful Toby, an amazing Border Collie and his best gal, Susie. Sadly, Toby passed away on Saturday evening, September 22, 2012. Here is a pic of Toby and Susie taken just 2 years ago. Toby lived to be 13 1/2 years old. He was a dignified protector, and it hurts so bad to lose him. Susie is still with me. She will soon be 13. I am trying to comfort her because they were sidekicks since she was just a puppy. We must weather this together. Toby and Susie were my dad's dogs before he passed away in 2001. One of his last requests of me was to take care of them. What a great job THEY have done in taking care of ME! Over the last 11 years, they have become such a part of my routine, and the love they have given is beyond measure. I pray that Susie will be with me for some more years.
You know, it's the little things that hurt the most right now. On my side post "profile," my fur babies are mentioned. I don't foresee changing the words on that profile any time soon. Rest in peace, Toby. You are finally home with Daddy, your first master. Forever in my heart. Now, run, play, and be Daddy's "boy" once more!

When we lost our collie Sasha, at the grand old age of 19, I couldnt believe how much grief I felt, so my heart is with you today as you feel your loss... They are so much part of our lives, and they give so much love and devotion. In the last months of Sasha's life we bought a little puppy in to join her, and she was invigorated by this new little one, who insisted she played with her. When she died, I let Millie smell and go close and understand that Sasha had left us. She didnt seem to grieve after that thank goodness, and then we got another dog to join us, and the two of them are like an old married couple even tho they are only 3 years old..and such great friends. I do hope your heart will ease soon, it took me several weeks, but it does happen, and then you can smile again and remember all the lovely memories.. hugs from across the pond. Janzi
