The Perfect Weekend

Morning has broken, like the first morning.

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.

Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,

Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlight from heaven.

Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.

Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,

Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.

Born of the one light Eden saw play.

Praise with elation, praise every morning;

God's recreation of the new day.

Morning has broken, like the first morning.

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.

Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,

Praise for them springing fresh from the Word."

A perfect weekend with 80 degree temp...who could ask for more than--

Watching the Saturday sunrise...opening all windows to let the breeze come in...having a cuppa made with freshly ground coffee beans...hearing the lawn mower...smelling freshly mowed grass...refilling the bird seed/suet feeders...relaxing on the porch...repotting deck plants...planting a columbine in the garden...replacing an azalea on the side fence...sipping peach tea...eating "Birthday Cake" ice cream with coconut cake(no birthday!)...napping on the chaise...reading Country Living...making an ATC for an art swap...pausing to reflect...seeing His creation with new eyes...watching the Sunday sunset...

Now with the night shadows covering this little corner of the world, it's time to say a prayer of thanks and drift off to sleep on fresh linens! The perfect ending to the perfect weekend!

Howdy
I love these lyrics !!!!!!!!!
One of my all time favorites except for the time my son was 13
and in a garage /youth band and they practiced at our home :)
I heard this song over and over and over a million times .
Than son grew up into a man and I can enjoy the song now over and over as often as I like :)
thank you for the awesome memory .
Blessings of joy to you for the coming week.
Oh I stopped by to say thank you for following my blog.
Your post distracted me for a time but it was a really neat way to be distracted :)
Happy Trails

What a beautifully composed post and I can hear Cat Stevens (when he was still Cat Stevens) playing softly in the background. Poetic, lovely, lingering sweetness!

The lyrics are so soothing. That was Cat Stevens, wasn't it?

I loved those 80's this weekend also. The high 90's and low 100's had just about taken their toll around here. Add almost no rain to go with it.
It always seems like these needed breaks come at just the right moment.

Have a great day.

Love the song. Pap sings the song-always thought it was funny-since I've only heard Cat Stevens sing it before. But Pap says it is one of the prettiest songs of praise he has ever heard. I believe it was written in the 15 or 16 hundreds. Very old.

Your blog is amazing-I really like it-and I'll be back : )
