Herbs du Jar

I was able to catch one of Smith and Hawkens plant seminars a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't planned, just a lucky shopping trip! That Saturday's "how-to" was terrariums. I have never created a terrarium, but it is on my list of gardening "want-to's." The store's instructor is Michelle, and she was fabulous in making it so simple. Just layer aquarium charcoal, pea gravel, potting soil and plants! A very light condensation on the glass is a good thing...more than a little...back off with the misting...open the terrarium overnight...Seems simple enough. Checking out web sites for different kinds of decorative, edible terrariums, I happened upon this one made with a mason jar. What a great idea for a kitchen!!! Do any of you have terrarium expertise??? (Photo from Better Homes and Gardens)

I love the idea of herb terrariums in mason jars. These would look nice lined on a kitchen wondow sill.

I don't have any experience with terraniums but I like the concept and the jar. Are you planning to make some?
