To My Dear Mother

Happy Mother's Day to all! For a couple of years following my mom's death, I just wanted Mother's Day cards to disappear off the shelves. A friend of mine lost her mother in a tragic accident about the same time. We looked at each other on the eve of the Sunday, and spoke in unison, "I wish that Mother's Day would just disappear." Life goes on. Those words were spoken, but then I quickly realized that mothers never die. They live in our hearts forever. The childhood memories of my mom in a small country house cooking, canning, washing, baking, and making a "cottage home" long before it was chic will never leave. I am a mother of a lovely daughter, and, now a grandmother to our Anna. I should only hope to leave one good memory as wonderful as my "mama" left to me. Happy Mother's Day, Mama! I love you!

Your post gives me goosebumps. So wonderfully sweet of you. You must have been a great daughter. I can't image not having my mom, so scary.
You have wonderful memories and I am so happy you are at peace with Mother's Day now.
Big hug to you~

Beautiful post Marilyn! I guess one would never get used to Mother's Day without their Mother. But thank goodness for the memories. Sending you big, big, big hugs.
