Benevolent guest
On the garden wall awaits
THE enchanted eve.
This pic of my garden spider is from a previous post of several weeks ago. Nature's helpful "fellow" still resides on the same wall near the front door entry....far enough away not to scare, yet close enough to keep pesky insects at bay! Look closely and you might see his "face" which looks startled! I wonder if he will still be around for Halloween Eve to welcome everyone from afar???? Does he know the fear that he commands from all faint hearts?

The spiders are inside these days around here. It's been cold, some frost, in the mornings. Nothing in the insect world is seen until the sun gets up on these beautiful Fall days. This one sure does seem to have been startled and now looks like it is determining a retreat to a place to wait until dark as your haiku suggests. It would scare me for sure!
Good stuff here today
How beautiful that you recognize this spider as a benevolent guest, which is entirely true but missed by most.
Eeeeks!! again, but looks like he is the friendly neighbourhood kind :) Wonder where he is??
I KNOW he's a good spider in my mind, but some part of me still screams, "eeek!" along with Nanka.
And I must confess that he wouldn't live long inside my house...
Love the photo and haiku – and the background info gives this real depth and breadth. Thanks for a fascinating insightful post.
All the best, Boonie
love the stripey leg patterns..and the crop of your photo giving your spider a proper portrait.
being an observer of life, i love your haiku!
thank you for being here.
Great haiku. Spiders are benevolent in gardens, even though we don't see them as such. Looks like an innocuous Charlotte. I like your haiku a lot. I am sure that she does as well.

That's so cool how you don't just squash it. Way better than me. I see a spider and evict him, catching it in a jar and putting it out in the garden.
Creepy, as my little grandson would say. I'm not at all fond of spiders, but your is a beauty (as spiders go).
He seems perfectly happy in his garden home. I'm certain he'll be welcoming guests on the enchanted eve. :)
Nicely done!
Deb
EEEEkkk!!! Sorry, but all spiders give me the willies!! Happy Week-end!!!
Ohhhh....what a cutie! :-)
And I eagerly await THE enchanted eve with ya!! :-)
It is a beautiful spider photo but I must admit that I do fear them!
Well written haiku this.. picture shows specific.. only haiku would have made imagination run wild..
oo bless you...i also have a guest that lives permanently in my basement...cheaper and better than any other pest control...his name is legs
He (she?) looks like an industrious specimen. Good to work out of doors.
Spiders definitely are scary, but they weave the most beautiful webs. Nice pic and haiku.
