Haiku My Heart

Garbed with garnet hues
Route 64 meanders
To winter's front door

It's Haiku Friday, and this is my first time to participate in this poetic event hosted by recuerda mi corazon.   I hope you enjoy my offering.  "Route 64" alludes to one of my favorite Autumn pastimes as a child.   It was a new box of 64 crayolas, filled with every color a young heart could imagine.  Autumn's color box always inspires that child once again!

Inspired by your words and photo:

crayon box
crammed with rainbow hues

(I do so like the image of Route 64! I can still smell the newness of that big box of Crayolas!)

New crayons can inspire the oldest of hearts, I think. :)

I certainly do enjoy it:
both the pixels and the words.

That is so mellifluous, it will stay in my head for the weekend.

Ah yes -- breaking the seal on the box, smelling the waxy smell, and finding all those perfect points. Lingering there, perplexed, trying to pick the very best one. . . (Welcome, by the way).

Marilyn, this is fabulous. The imagery is gorgeous and the verse is, too. Love the metaphor. A brand new box of 64 crayons, oh yeah! The kid in me remembers... :)

I enjoyed your offering very much! And my childhood was filled with the loves of autumn and a box of fresh, new crayons, as well...

Wonderful haiku and I love the art too. I was thinking of the old TV program Route 66 - now that really ages me ;-) It interesting as another blogger recently wrote about the box of crayons.

I love the autumn colors. Funny, I was just on Route 64 while traveling in New Mexico recently. I am drawn to any reference to routes, whether ot not they are about the road. I can see the big box of crayons. VBery nice.

Peace.
