On Valentine's Day heartfelt sentiments are shared on Hallmark's papers. But, sometimes the deepest love is never spoken aloud, and a card is never sent. That feeling is "hauntingly" captured in Sara Teasdale's poem "The Look." This has been my favorite love poem since I first read it at age 20! Once again I share it with you because it speaks of a time and place that most of us remember and visit every now and then in our solitude.
The Look
Strephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.
Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day.

Simply lovely! Love never has to say anything; it only has to be.
