New Family in the Nest

This is the second sweet family that has taken up residence on these eaves this spring/summer!  It won't be long before these little fledglings try their wings.  Somehow, they always manage to soar into the sky when we're not around. One can only imagine the journey they will take in their lifetime....hundreds or thousands of miles on fragile wings.  Their total trust inspires us to step bravely into each new day!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!  I miss you so much!

What wonderful childhood memories I have of waiting for you to come home for lunch at noon on those lazy summer days.

Then, watching the Braves baseball games, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, and wrestling every Saturday afternoon and evening.  Oh, I can't forget Bonanza!

You brought home new puppies for me to love!  Let's see....Buster, Rusty, my own Lassie, and Chris.  You loved them as much as I did.  Now, the two fur babies you left with me are sleeping at my feet as I type.

I loved to watch you make things.  You took a piece of wood and turned it into a work of art.

My list of "remembers" could go on forever!

But, most of all, I remember your smile and the safety I felt from your hugs.

Hug Mom for me and rejoice in your rest on this Father's Day!

Mingling Birds

These are beautiful Chive vases.  By clustering the seven, it looks like the birds are having a summer garden party!  Or, maybe, the bridesmaids at a June wedding?  Love these!  (Photo Source:  One King's Lane)

The Beauty of Wisdom

Knowledge is proud that he has learned so much;
Wisdom is humble that he knows no more.
William Cowper

With the students out for summer, things are a bit quiet here in the "one room school house!"  Summer's lazy days are offering some time for naps and meandering.  August school days are quite a ways off in the distance, but it's always good to keep growing, learning, and sharing during the "not have to hours..." I love this picture of the owl soaring over lavender fields.  It's all good!

Gardening Is for Kids, TOO!

I've just discovered the neatest place online for kids, both young and old!  It's Gardening with Kids, and it is fantastic!  These are just a few of the quality items you'll find there.  The book Cultivating a Child's Imagination Through Gardening sums it all up! Then, the little tree frog pedaling below can be purchased as a garden spinner.  Very cool, eh?  But, wouldn't it also be great to bring him to life as an art project on a rainy afternoon?

Math in the Garden, one of my favorite math activity books, is filled with fun things that teach, too. It has the approval of national  math/science educators.

How about the Eat a Rainbow growing kit!  Growing veggies like those in the pic could be the start of whole new way of thinking about that broccoli.

Happy Pink Gingham Saturday!

What sweet vintage tins for a summer kitchen!  These remind me of the season's strawberry shortcake, cherry pie, and pink lemonade!

I'm linking to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for this Happy Pink Saturday!  Join the fun by visiting Beverly to see other "pinks."  Better yet, link up for our weekly blog party.
