Let It Snow!

No, this isn't the scene from my window today, but we are having our coldest morning yet with temps near 17 degrees.  There is an overcast sky with a few flakes falling. Though no accumulation of snow is expected, it's a perfect time to once again enjoy Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. I love the poem's "snapshot"  of a solitary  passerby in a carriage who is taking a respite from responsibilities for a short while to enjoy the beauty of the moment.  I welcome you to this quick poetry retreat on a frosty, winter morn'.  What scene is nature bringing to your yuletide door today? Stopping By the Woods On a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
