Happiness resides not in possessions, and not in gold, happiness dwells in the soul. - ~~~~~Democritus

It bears repeating to me, myself, and I that in this season of joyous shopping and social gatherings happiness is found within one's self, not outer trappings.  Once found, it has the potential to illuminate the life of those we meet and greet every day be they loved ones, friends, or total strangers.  Selfless giving of time, smiles, and homemade trinkets is the kind that will be remembered.  In these economic times, let us not fret about making grand gestures.   A listening ear and open heart are sometimes the priceless gifts that will long be treasured after the "official" holiday decorations are packed away safely in the attic.  A favorite lyric asks, "Why can't everyday be like Christmas?"  Well, it can be when life is lived with intent to know oneself better and relate to others selflessly.  These thoughts are brought to mind by the hot cocoa I'm sipping and winter's frigid 20 degree temps.  Monday, a new canvas!
