Haiku My Heart

                                                  In memory of...
                                            the leaves that fall silently
                                                  under the blue sky.

The above picture is one that I took of my cottonwood tree last week.  The leaves are now sparse, and  they seem to be contently awaiting their fate under the sky's blue canopy.  Does each leaf know that it is part of eternity?

It's Haiku My Heart Friday hosted by recuerda mi corazon.  If you enjoy reading haiku or would like to share your own, click here!  Thanks, Rebecca  for hosting this weekly event that has captured my heart.

I think they only know what they have to do -- let go and free fall!

Beautiful! I am so not ready for all the green to disappear. Summer passed by too fast.

There is no doubt a teaching here that the leaves give us. The scene cahnges from day to day and before we know it, a new season has settled in, just to change again in a few months. The circle of life. Very nice.

Peace.

They fall to earth to nourish it so that other plants may grow and the ground may remain moist. Their falling allows the branches to bloom once more. It is sad but a necessary vicissitude of the season. Lovely picture and thought.

Oh, so sad... sigh. But a lovely tribute, just the same. We still have a lot of leaves on the trees, as they're just coming into their peak colors here. Soon, though, all will be bare.

'Til next year. :)

Interesting question. It's entirely possible that they are wiser than humans. :)
