Vintage Swap Treasure

This past Spring, which now seems like an eternity ago, I signed up for a vintage swap about time. Laurie, from Indulge Your Shelf, was my partner. Laurie is every swap partner's dream! I received a HUGE box one afternoon from Colorado filled with all sorts of vintage goodies. At the time, I posted a picture of a beautiful button collage which Laurie spent hours stitching just for me! Every thing has its season. Now is the right season to share with you another treasure that Laurie sent to me. It is a personal poetry journal from the early 1900's....to die for!!! I collect old diaries and journals. This will always be on the shelf among my favorites. The journal has several beautiful handwritten entries, which use the penmanship from that era. It is faint now because of age. The book is filled with clipping of poems and stories and even jokes that were special to its owner, Martha Standley. Martha made her first entry in the journal on September 2, 1902. If you relish a good read from a bygone era, then these pictures are for you. Thanks, Laurie, my friend. You are written in my book of favorite swaps that make sharing through blogs and art groups so special!

I'm so glad you're still enjoying items from the swap; I have since heard books like that one referred to as "glue books", because of all the snippets of things that she read and loved that she glued in there!
