It's a sunny, yet frigid Sunday afternoon in the Deep South. We are expecting our first freeze this evening. Visiting around some of the blogs that participated in Pink Saturday and a Halloween Celebration has been so much fun. I still have lots of beautiful pink posts and bewitching sites to visit. I enjoyed my partying so much so that I neglected to make time to do some writing on a work project. Though my managing editor is a very gracious lady, I don't think that she would be pleased with a missed deadline. So, tonight I will be burning the midnight oil on the computer keys. Actually that is a good thing that just parades around as work overload. Thomas Jefferson had a bit to say about "tranquility and occupation."
It is never wealth or splendor but tranquility and occupation which give happiness.
Sometimes it takes a lazy, solitary Sunday afternoon to realize that I am blessed to have too much to do. Stress not over what needs to be done, but over the emptiness when all seems to be done. When one is left without meaningful work for very long,the hands become less inclined to reach out to others. The face seems less likely to smile back when we pass a mirror, and the heart forgets gratitude and takes on an attitude of entitlement. Blessed be our stress. It is the catalyst for lasting happiness.

I've been reading your posts and enjoying them. I loved the pictures of your family and the Fall Festival and the pumpkin patch. This post is so inspiring and so true for to be idle with nothing to occupy us is perhaps even more difficult than stress.
