My Place to Create

Karen at My Desert Cottage is hosting a party today!!! The theme is Where Women Create! I visited Karen's blog this morning. OH MY!!! Her studio is a dream! It's a work of art! I am a guest at Karen's party. So, I agreed to post a photo of my creative space. Well, the place where I go to hold court with the muse is very humble. My art work is always created on my screened back porch at this tiny table. Now, the art supplies are stored (using that word loosely) in a hutch in my home office. But, this spot is where I look over the yard, the pool, the decks, and nature. From the sky, the water, the flora, and the fauna the muse appears. I love all of God's creation. Butterflies and flowers are two of my favorite inspirations. Now that Autumn is slowly approaching, frisky squirrels and amber leaves will probably be appearing on my ATC's. The other pic is of a side deck that is usually filled with flowers in Spring. Right now the pygmy palms have the stage. When I need to take a break and mull over the right quote or embellishment to add, I step out to the glider and let my mind go free with uncensored ideas. Where do you go to create? It doesn't have to be a "studio" in the ordinary sense. It's any place that you feel at home with your pen, paper, art supplies, thrift finds, or inspiring reads.

Like you, it's all about the view for me as I create. Whether that view is indoors or out, I love having a sense of peace and wonder as I spend time in my work & play room. Thanks so much for sharing!

Outdoors is the best...your mind can wander fee.

I do my most creating...in my head..in an old wooden rocker that I drag all over the house~LOL

What better place to create than to be at a wee table gazing on the work of the great Creator. How much more inspiring could a spot be? I also liked the part of your description of unshelved words that says poetry may "shatter the silence" of another. Wow. Thank you for sharing your studio. ~Kathy

How wonderful for you to be able to create sitting among the beauty of nature. I so would if I could but it's just to hot here. I had to giggle when you said autumn was slowly approaching. We still have 3 more months of 100 degrees or higher!
Thank you so much for coming to my party. You've really helped make it a wonderful success!

Hello,

Yes, you are so right...anyplace that inspires you should be where you go to create! Thanks so much partying with us!! What fun this is..I'm still making the rounds.

When you have a moment please stop by to see my "studio in progress". I've just recently moved into our home and I've been remodeling for going on three months. I'm almost finished (I think!!)

I am a little late to the party, but better late than never. My daughter, the fashionista, will soon be leaving the nest for her new apartment. I will have the luxury of decorating her old room (specifically the closet) as my creative space. I cannot wait and will incorporate many of the wonderful ideas you have shared here. Thank you.
