I visited Coralie this morning at Vintage Cottage Home. I read this past Monday's post about the loss of her dear childhood friend, Gail. The ninth anniversary of the death of my best friend Lynn will be in August. Like Coralie and Gail, Lynn and I shared those magical days of youth. How wonderful it would have been to have shared our grandchildren!!! It was not to be, but I find solace in wonderful memories and knowing that Lynn's home is now in Heaven. Coralie, may your memories always make you feel that Gail is just a laugh, a sigh, a smile away! Though this video by Mary Frye is for all who grieve the passing of a loved one, today it is especially for those who have lost a "sister by heart." For the memory of Lynn and Gail.... (Please pause the music on the playlist at the bottom of the page before playing the video)

I lost my dear friend, Kathie, a year ago in May. She was only 34. It was very sudden, and very unneccessary, and I am still struggling. Some days it feels more like drowning, I'm so sad and angry.

And it's intensified by the fact that she was my darling son's "Auntie Kathie" and he misses her so much. She was his second mother, there was hardly a day from his birth that they didn't see each other. So I'm sad and angry for him, too, at all he's missing.

And I didn't just lose her - I lost her family. They were my second family, but the pain has been too intense for all of us. We don't see each other anymore.

I've never heard anyone else talk about the loss of a friend, til I zoomed through your site today. Thank you. I feel very alone in this type of mourning. There's so much written about losing family members... no one really gets that she WAS our family...
