Childhood Swing

School's out for summer! Bare feet, popsicles, bike rides, and a homemade swing!! Those were the joys of summer back in the 60's. Oh, I know...today's youth probably looks forward to a very different kind of school vacation! Well, the simple pleasures of those "dinosaur days" will remain forever! The little girl in this pic reminds me of the fun I had on the swing that dad made for me every summer from a notched board and a rope. It hung from a huge tree limb in our backyard! Bliss!!! Total bliss!! To paraphrase a current ad...
The cost was little. The joy was priceless!!

Ohmygosh! This was one of my favorite poems when I was a little girl. My dad, too, made me a swing which I enjoyed every single day for years! Oh what great memories you've brought to me today!

My kids are looking forward to the same exact pleasures this summer:) School Summer vacation doesn't start for them for another 5 weeks here in France.. It's so hard for me to be patient!

I remember swinging so high I felt like I was a bird in the sky! That was when I used to play at a local park when I was a child. Those were the days! Recently, I took my godchild to the park and we both swung on the swings, and then I pushed her for a while. Wonderful!!!!
