"Merzidotes"

The gentle lamb has always had my affection! A lamb's innocence and humble spirit bring the earth's renaissance in Spring full circle. Last week I ran across the complete poem of Mary Had a Little Lamb. It brought back memories of simpler times and the sheer joy of outdoor play when the sun's rays start to slowly warm the March soil. After reading all of the verses, a song written as an ode to the lamb's diet came to mind. Yes, that is "Merzidotes" playing in the background today. (The song's title has a different spelling than the lyrics. It has that extra "French flair!") The little tune is a great sing-a-long when Serendipity waltzes in the door announcing that the earth is awakening from its long Winter nap. The words are so easy!

" Mairzy Doats and Dozy Doats and liddle lamzy divey. A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you? A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?"

Translation:

"Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. A kid will eat ivy, too, wouldn't you?"

Now, sing-a-long with Serendipity! Sing like you mean it!!!

I'm going to try to add my Shelfari shelf today~Thanks for reminding that I need to get back to the basics and the things I love~READING!! Reading is a pure pleasure for me and certainly requires that I slow down. No wonder I used to be such an avid reader.

Such fond memories with this poem. We used to sing it both ways while taking lunch to my Uncle on the farm, while skipping and dancing around of course...
