Pressed Flowers

I just visited Creative Solace. Heather mentioned in one of her posts that she loves pressed flowers. So, do I! I'm posting a picture of a pressed flower that I found inside a lady's journal from the late 1800's/early 1900's. This has been my find of a lifetime. The tiny calendar pages and the pressed flower were preserved within the pages of her Victorian calligraphy. Notice the tiny tracing of the flower. The petals are so fragile and faded. To think that it once bloomed and captured some woman's fancy. Or, perhaps, it was from a "suitor." My cost? The antique store was in its final hours before moving to another location. When I asked the price, the clerk said, "Oh, a dollar!" That was over 20 years ago. It still has a very special place in my personal library. Do any of you collect vintage diaries just to hold another's thoughts and musings from another time??

Oh this just made my heart sing! The thought that you got it for $1 just makes me think that it was meant to come to you to be cherished. Thank you so much for sharing scans. I found someone's baby book complete with photos of the little one through the years....it is a treasure of mine. It makes me sad though at the same time.

What a wonderful find! I like to think about the dress she was wearing as she placed this pretty flower between the pages. Imagine how different the world was. Wow!

I would love to have someone's old journal/diary. I often check out ebay for just that. Havn't been lucky enough to win one yet, but if I ever do, I will be sure to share pictures with you.

Thanks for sharing this special item!
