Indigo Palette

With the leaves in full color, I'm sharing another color scheme from Bonnie Rosser Krims' book The Perfect Palette. Indigo was actually discovered by Newton. When I first read this, I had to recall the prism acronym ROY G BIV...yes, the "I" is for indigo. In the book, this color is described as "sensual, ethereal, peaceful, cool, magical, ...enigmatic." It's the sky's hue between twilight and complete darkness. The author suggests that the color be used in rooms with lots of natural light. Since indigo symbolizes awareness, contentment, and introspection, eating areas and libraries are great spaces for its presence. I'd opt for neutral colors on the floors. I think that Autumn leaves waving from outside large windows are a nice backdrop for indigo! Personally, this color on the walls is a bit daring for my cottage taste, but I can see it working in "small splashes" with some "shabby" tones to soften. For those who are bold in decor, indigo is awesome!
