Thrift Store Frenzy!

Yesterday I visited a new thrift store that is located in a little suburb called Gardendale. My friend Charlotte went along, and we were ecstatic to have both of our calendars clear for the day!!! OK...Charlotte's best find...which I don't have a picture...was a set of 4 vintage crystal coasters. They are 2 die 4!!! Well, I was feeling kind of down since I didn't spy those first when I walked on over to the book section. There in the gardening spot was Southern Living's Landscape Book! Heart be still. But, ALAS, it was not marked. I put it in the buggy anyway...Here is where the story gets interesting. If you are a thrift store junkie, your head will be going up and down. Charlotte walked up to my basket and noted the lovely landscape book. She said that she wished that she had seen it first. I saw envy in her eyes! LOLOL!!! She asked to look at it. I told her, "But, of course, just don't get attached!" LOLOL!!! Friendship is out the door when the find of the day takes your breath away!!! I told her not to go near the book shelves...What if she forgot and reshelved it??? Oh, the agony. Finally, she put the book back in the shopping cart. I think that she was a bit fearful. LOLOL!! There was a lady nearby stocking the shelves. So, I politely asked her about the price of the unmarked book. She told me that she would go to the back and speak to the manager. Usually, he didn't price on the spot, but he might make an exception. Half seriously, I said to her, "I want that book no matter how much it costs!!" By this time two or three or four other ladies were joining the circle like vultures. The saleslady laughed and said, "We'll take $800.00 for it!!!" I blushed and replied, "I was only kidding." I watched as she went through the swinging doors. That manager held my day's find in hand. Its pages were gorgeous...arbors and gazebos and fountains and little retreat buildings......420 pages....so much to enjoy. The nice lady finally came back and said the price would be $1.98!!!! She would walk it to the front of the store, and it would be waiting when I checked out....Now, what was the chance of me letting that book out of my sight? I took my cart right to the register holding the saleslady with the book hostage the entire trek! When I reached the register, Charlotte was not with me. So, we paged her....Now everyone wants to be paged, right???? She took it in good stride. Well, it started with those coasters..$1.48 for 4 vintage, crystal coasters!!! But, glass breaks...my book is 4-EVER!!!! Now, I am sharing just a few pics from my book find!!! Sweet, sweet victory!!! If you are a thrift store drama queen, please share with us in a comment! I'll be there are some great tales to tell out there!!!
